Recipe instructions Slow Cooker Guinness Beef Stew
Cut the beef into one and a half inch pieces, then sprinkle with salt and pepper. Take it out of the pan, crumble it, and set it aside.
In a large pot, fry the bacon until crispy. Set the meat aside. Leave the bacon grease in the pot. Brown the beef by cooking a small amount at a time in the pot. Once browned, remove the beef pieces and place them into the slow cooker insert. After finishing, also put the bacon in the slow cooker.
Mix the beef broth and tomato paste and pour them into the slow cooker.
Place the rest of the ingredients (carrots, celery, potatoes, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, pepper, thyme, and bay leaf) in a 6-8 quart slow cooker. At last, pour in the beer and add the chocolate. Give it a final stir.
Cook on low for 8 hours.
When finished, take off the lid of the slow cooker and carefully remove one cup of liquid from the stew. Put the liquid in a bowl with flour and whisk them together. Pour the mixture back into the stew and stir until it thickens, which should take about 5 minutes.
Before serving, remember to remove the bay leaf.
