Separate the cake batter into individual bowls, one for each color being used.

Add food coloring to each bowl of batter, several drops at a time, until the desired colors are achieved. Be sure to blend the batter well. Remember to leave one bowl of white batter.

Place muffin wrappers in the muffin pans and add half a teaspoon of white batter in the middle of each one.

Then, add ½ teaspoon of the next color batter onto the center of the white batter. Drop each color into the center of the previous batter puddle until muffin cups are half full.

Bake at 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) for about 12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a cupcake comes out clean.

For brighter and deeper colors, it is recommended to use gel coloring.
