Cover with the top crust and seal the edges with a fork or your fingers. To allow steam to escape, make a few slits. If you want, you can whisk 1 egg with 1 tablespoon of water and brush the egg wash over the crust.

To prevent the pie from bursting, cut slits into the top crust to allow steam to escape. After baking, let the pie sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the juices to reabsorb and the pie to hold its shape when sliced and served.
